The club would like to have more entries than ever this year and hopefully most of you will probably have a model that you could use. Don’t be put of by the wording of the rules, its only a bit of fun. The intention is to try and make it as equal for as many pilots as possible without you having to spending lots of money.
The competition will be run over five or six
rounds throughout the summer evenings and probably at the annual BBQ, with each
pilot's best three rounds counting towards their final score. Each round will
have a different task, for example, all up last down, fly for a fixed time
without timers, pylon race and a few others not yet finalised.
Any model type may be used for any task but
the pilot must declare which model they intend to use when booking in on the
day. A pilots briefing will then follow, at which time the task type will be
announced, taking into account the weather conditions and the daylight
available. This will hopefully reduce any advantages gained by selecting certain
model types for specific tasks and enable those who may only have one electric
model to compete on more equal terms with our multi model members. Anybody
wishing to change their model after the task has been announced can only do so
at the discretion of the competition director ( Dave Barker ) and will only be
allowed to do so if failure of the first model can be proved, ( show me the
bits), no cheating please.
Each task will probably have different scoring methods but points will be awarded in the following manner for the first eight places in each round.
First……..10 points Fifth……..4 points
Second…..8 points Sixth…….3 points
Third…….6 points Seventh….2 points
Fourth…...5 points Eighth……1 point
As mentioned earlier, two extra points will be awarded to any pilot who finishes in the first eight providing they used one of the previous club models ( Piccolo, Wizza or Star Jet), these may be new builds or better still those from our previous years competitions. Start brushing the cobwebs off and attending to any crash damage you may have incurred in previous years. Perhaps its time to think about a brushless set-up for a Piccolo, this can be done for under £20 now, which is probably cheaper than the original speed 400 and brushed controller set-up we originally went for five or six years ago.The aim is to have round one start in April on the 4th Tuesday evening and then either the 3rd or 4th Tuesday in the month after that, a list of the provisional dates is shown below but if these have to change as much notice as possible will be given, probably via the club notice board in the hanger where the results for each round will also be posted and these web pages.
Round 2 20th May
Round 3 24th June
Round 4 22nd July
Round 5 19th August
