General Information

Warwick Model Flyers has been an active model flying club since 1970/71. It became affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (formerly SMAE) from 1st January 1990.

The Club operates a private flying site by arrangement with a local farmer. The airstrip has a grass 'square' with a windsock to indicate wind direction.  There are specific areas identified for pilots to stand, dependant upon wind direction.  New members must be aware of Club flying procedures before flying for the first time. We operate a pegboard system to control the use of frequencies and a peg must be placed on this board before turning on the transmitter. For insurance purposes no one shall fly at the site before paying the club subscription.

At our flying site we fly all types of radio control models, i/c and electric planes, gliders and helicopters. We have informal meetings on Tuesday evenings, Saturday afternoons, with the main meeting on Sunday mornings. Flying is allowed at many other times in accordance with our ‘flying times’ listed on a separate page.

Electric flight has now become a big part of the flying at the Club, with most members now owning an electric model or two, electric gliders are common with most. A small number of Club members have produced an excellent launch system.

We have facilities for cooking, the making of hot drinks, and a hangar (Club house) for meetings and repairs (should the need arise).

During the summer months we have competitions and barbecues, all of which have good attendance.

A program of winter meetings is organized from October to March inclusive. These are generally held at the Blue Lias Public House, Stockton Road, Stockton, Southam CV47 8LD  on the second Tuesday of the month. The AGM is held at the same venue on the second Tuesday of December.
